The sea stole furtive long glances at her love,

Swirling brusquely, she splashed turbulent blue foam.

Her paramour, the mighty sky, paid no heed,

She waited listlessly for him to come home.

The dazzling sun slowly began to recede,

Her beloved blushed a bashful scarlet red.

Their humdrum tryst at the horizon decreed,

Purple, the colour of ardent passion, spread.

The blue sea mated with the red sky above,

Promises were made, basked in the purple glow,

Every dusk and dawn; as above, so below.

This form of poetry is called Onzain Neerlandaise.
